He is risen …now what? In His Word 4-6-2026
Everyone was so excited yesterday as we celebrated Jesus’ Resurrection; what do we do about it now? The party is not over, we got excited celebrated and had a great time loving Jesus for all He did but wait! There’s more! Don’t let yourself feel that let down that comes after a party, instead shout for joy to the Lord and open up your Bible today!
Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened. Mark 16:2-8
Most of the ancient manuscripts of Mark stop with this verse, but later manuscripts dd one ore more of the following endings or both.
[Shorter Ending of Mark]
Then they briefly reported all this to Peter and his companions. Afterward Jesus himself sent them out from east to west with the sacred and unfailing message of salvation that gives eternal life. Amen.
[Longer Ending of Mark]
After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went to the disciples, who were grieving and weeping, and told them what had happened. But when she told them that Jesus was alive and she had seen him, they didn’t believe her. Afterward he appeared in a different form to two of his followers who were walking from Jerusalem into the country. They rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them.
Still later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their stubborn unbelief because they refused to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead. And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs .Mark 16:9-19
Jesus told them to go to all he world, even to the end of the earth and preach, teach the Gospel, the Word of God.
So, it seems to me that since He appeared to them they did it. They believed because they saw Him, but Jesus Himself said those who believe who have not seen Him in the flesh were blessed. I kind of think he means those who came after into the believing that Jesus rose, etc.
So that means us!
Now that we know what happened, and now that we have read, and believed what He said, we need to study to show ourselves approved by God! We need to study so we an share it with others after we also believe it!
We have been given a responsibility now that we know the Truth. It has set us free but also it can free those around us, at work, in the neighborhood, in our community. We need to share that Jesus is alive!
Just like the gals did they told the disciples. Just like Jesus had said,
Then they remembered that he had said this.
So they rushed back from the tomb to tell his eleven disciples—and everyone else—what had happened. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn’t believe it. However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened. Luke 24:8-12
In Matthew 28 Jesus tells us to go to all the world and preach and teach the Gospel baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is how we know what to do next! This is the Next Thing!
We need to study the Word, read it daily and really make it fresh in our minds and hearts, and then we can spontaneously spout out the scripture story as we read it in our Bible!
Okay, so let’s add to “read, pray, repeat” Now lets try to Read, Pray, Share, repeat!
Share the life giving, living Word with those around you today! Remind them that it is not the end of the story, there is more to read, there is more to do than just rejoice in Jesus Resurrection, He has so much for us to share! Study the after in the rest of the New Testament, then return to the Old Testament and study some more!
When we keep the Word fresh in our mind we will be able to share the Good News with everyone, anyone, anytime, and anywhere! In Jesus’ name.
Heavenly Father, help us study your Word, and share it with others, in Jesus’ name…
