According to the scriptures we are children of God. We have th right to call Him "Abba Father" because we were grafted into the family vine when we first believed in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Because we are His children we try to do the right things and please him. We choose to obey the Word, and as such we study to show ourselves approved by Him. (2 Timothy 2:15) Don't be afraid, it is not hard to follow Christ, and become part of His family ,you just need to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, but He does have things for us to do after that fact! We need to behave as Christ followers, and get rid of our old sinful ideas and behaviors; trading them in for the Word of God and faith is a marvelous way to do that!
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Romans 8:12-19
Do everything without complaining and arguing so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless .Philippians 2:14-16
And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. Galatians 3:25-27
So to find out who you are, as many people struggle to do, you can either look to the world and get stressed out anxious and harried or you can look to the Word of God and Jesus and be filled with peace that passes all understanding .
Jesus gave it to us and left it with us after He resurrected. (see John 14:27) . He told us not not be discouraged, not to be afraid and because of this we can have the faith over fear that my jacket talks about!
So do you know who you are? I do! I am a child of God! Are you?
Heavenly father, thank you for sending Jesus to be our perfect sacrifice for all sins, thank you that we can believe in your name and be saved! Thank you that we can be baptized and share with the world that we believe! Help us to focus on You and Your goodness this week as we think and celebrate Easter, or Ressurection Sunday., and Holy Week. may we be proved by You and share the love of God with others in Jesus name...
