Sometimes I wonder….In His Word 3:16-2026

There are times when I wonder why I have been writing this devotional blog for 28 years. I mean I have had weeks that I struggled to get the Word out there but other times it has just flowed through my fingers; yet I wonder why? Maybe you wonder too when you read the stuff I write! Ha, ha? Seriously though I do it because the Word of God needs to be out there and this is one avenue that I can use to get the Word! It is not always professional, and sometimes I have put up the wrong verses of the Bible or sent out a blog with typos that were pretty wild. I mean I am not perfect! Still when I read the verses in Colossians 3, and at the moment it is the one below specifically, it speaks to me to keep it going!

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.  And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:16-17

So, maybe my typos are not a good representative, but I hope that the Words of the Bible are! What is going on around us in life. He wants us to realize that since we have been lifted out of the world, and no longer live as part of it, that we should focus on heavenly realities instead of the world’s troubles. I know some people think we are wrong to not get caught up in the cares of this world, but it actually says in the Bible not to. (Mark 4)

But God wants us to set our sights higher than just on Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.  Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. Colossians 3:1-4

Now, with the writing and the videos He has me doing now, I am putting myself out there. It can be scarey to think that people may be mocking me, or laughing at my crazy looks sometimes but I really try to do what God inspires me to do.I try to live p to the Word’s directions and though I know sometimes it’s a bit off I seek the Lord and try to find the answers in the Word that stand out to help people in life’s daily stuff. Sometimes its personal, other times its straight Word. It is my sincere hope that something you read strikes true and encourages you to read the Word more or pray more or worship more, maybe even share with someone else how much God has done in your life! Not just from my writing, by the way, but through reading the Bible Scriptures posted or encouraged to read about. I hope to follow in the steps my Lord has put before me with honor, humbleness,  and integrity. So I go on here in Colossians, step by step in obedience to His Word.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. 6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.  Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.  In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile,  circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.  And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:5-15

And I love how God can give us such perfect directions in how to just live life and be an example. You don’t have to write it, you just have to read it! The Word is something you can read, apply and live, every day. This chapter tells us how to do that, how to live at peace and how to be forgiving, and it gives direction in why, and how. So today it is my hope that you won’t stop here! This is getting long but you can go on to the Bible app of your choice and read all of Colossians 3 and see the encouragement there, read on and then apply it to your life!

In fact, I will say it again; Read, pray, apply, then live it! Do the Word today!

Heavenly Father, help us to get into the Word, read it for ourselves and write out what you give us in our journals or notebooks. Help us to pray for You to fix anything we got wrong and then to walk in the directions You have given us, In Your Word, and In Jesus’ name…
