Are you finding wisdom ? - In His Word 3-10-2025

Are you finding wisdom?- In His Word 3-10-2025 (Remix from 2006)

How can we know what to do each day that will help us do the right thing? How can we know what the right thing is to do? Where can we find the answers to these things, what wisdom to follow, or what is wisdom for that matter?

To find the answers to these and many other questions lets look--In His Word!

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.                                                                  1 Corinthians 1:20-25

However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But as it is written:

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."                                                            1 Corinthians  2:6-9

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,  that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.                                                                                                                                                               1 Corinthians 2:1-5

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.                                                                                                               Ephesians 5:15-21

Have you looked around you lately? The people of this world have gone mad!  They no longer raise their children, they just let them do what they want.  They believe televistion stars over the Word of God.  They just trust the government as if it were God himself. They don’t even realise the foolishness they are in.  I was there before I knew the Lord, and even as a young babe in the Lord I had no clue how to be a parent. But as new parents read books to learn to become wise in parenting, we too need to learn to be good Christians. We need to be sure we are behaving as Christ would each day, not just on Sunday.

We need to walk in wisdom, as we lead others to the Lord. Did you know you were leading people in your life? You are, because people are watching you, wondering how you stay standing, or where you get that sunny disposition in the trials you are living.  We need to be sure we are living a life that will give them a visual of what Jesus is really like. After all we are Christians, ‘of Christ’ remember? I don’t mean we have to go around all serious all the time, I believe God has a great sence of  humor. What we do need to do is make sure we are living right though befor Him.

In reading the scriptures above I recalled the days of people standing on the street corner with signs reading, “the end is near”. We are told to speak with grace and seasoned with salt. This means that we are to cause our words to sound good, to taste better as salt does to meat. So, instead of ‘the end is near’ people now sing songs with “people get ready’ and the question of “are you ready?” ring in churches and on the radio. It makes it more exciting!

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.  Colosians 4:5-6

Salt brings out the flavor in things, so if we are to speak seasoned with salt then we are to bring out the flavor of Christ! Notice it does not tell you to make it taste sugary, sugar coates things and makes them seem good when they are not. You can sugar coat a sour strawberry and think it is ripe when it is not, but when the sugar fades its just sour.  We need to be sure we are using the right spice in our speech. When we speak words that draw out the truth, just as salt draws out the flavor, then they will desire to hear. Salt can make food mouthwatering. Cause you to want more, and so should our words cause them to want to hear more!

When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemene the Father spoke to us, when he spoke to Peter, James and John. He told them to “Hear Him”. To listen to Him.

His Word tells us how to speak, how to listen and what to do with what we learn this day. (James 1:19)

We in turn need to share this with unbelievers. For how will they know Him, unless we invite them to know Him?  It is sort of like the field of dreams… if you build it they will come. If you share Him, they will come to know Him!

That is the first part of wisdom I think, because knowing God is the wisest thing we can do.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One  is understanding.                                                                                                        Proverbs  9:10

We need to get ready in our personal lives to be a good example to the people who are lost out in the world. That means we need to be on our toes! We cannot slack off and go party with the world one minute then jump back into church as thought nothing happened. We need to keep things straight between God and us. I need to keep my life acceptable in His eyes. I know when I am lacking in one area or another, and so does my God. Jesus is part of my life, He is with me every moment of every day. He sees my failures, my disobeidient times, my joys and my tears. He knows when I try to hide something from myself.

He knows the truth, as much and more than I do. Do you know when you try to hide things from other people, the only one you are really fooling is yourself? The Word of God says to be sure, our sins will find us out!

When we start to think we are pretty wise though, that is when we are foolish. We must continue in His Word to gain wisdom for life. Each day we must dig into the Bible and get fed up on His wisdom! I have to say that I fail in this a lot at times! I let schooling get in the way of my time of reading, or I let getting my oldest up for school break into my time on my knees. Oh I still pray, its just short timer prayers.

When my husband was in the Navy they called people who were about at the end of their time in the Navy, “Short Timers”.When we pray knowing we only have so much time we tend to pray short timer prayers. One of those get in do the time and get out prayers.  I don’t know about you but I just don’t enjoy them as much as the times that I spend enjoying being in the presence of my King! All time dissapears when I focus on Him and not on my time allowance. So in wisdom I  must choose to focus on the prayers not on the time.

We must study to grow in Him, we never will know it all. We can read His Words a million times and still just begin to know what He has us to learn from it! How awesome to learn something new every morning.

So all in all what we are trying to learn today is how we can walk in wisdom and help others to find the Wisdom of God. To sum it up I would say speak with love, for God is love. Talk to others as you would have them talk to you. Even the world knows that verse, though they don’t know its scripture! Speak freely about the things God has done for you from filling your cup with water, to covering your car from an accident, He is with you daily protecting you and guiding you. Just look for those things to use to share Him with others. You can find Jesus in anything, I used to ask kids to suggest something and I would find a way to share Jesus from that item. Think on that thing this week. How can you share Jesus with the things around you in your life? Walk in wisdom of God, fill your mind with His Word and it will become easier to find Jesus in all things! He is with you wherever you go, so ask Him to show you!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for today, help us to walk in Your Word today and share it with others. Help us to find You in everything today Lord. Show us yourself in all that we do, that we may know just how much you really are with us each day. In Jesus name, amen.
