Day 9~Advent Countdown -In His Word 12-9-2023
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:1-3
As I am about to enjoy a rendition of a favorite play, done by children this time I am reminded to let go of the things that hinder or bind me to do the things I thought, or think, that I should do, and instead doing the things that God has put before me to do.
It is so easy to get caught upin the cares of this world at this time of year. We worry if we should celebrate with friends or family who believe different than we do. We wonder if it matters if we insert a little of this or that into our holiday traditions. IT can become deceitful, or fill us of envy someone else gets to gather with hundreds of friends and you 'only have your family' to hang with. Part of the letting it go, or ridding yourself of the things mentioned above is our maturing in Christ. The more we know Him and why we celebrate Him, the more we can ignore the ideas the world tosses our way to spend tons of money getting all the things the worldly people get so we can 'keep up' with them.
Don't we know that we are already in the lead where it counts? With God in our lives we are ahead of the rest! We have salvation for all eternity because of Christ coming to save us, that is the reason we celebrate! Even though the kings brought gold, frankisense, and myrrh does not mean we have to do the same to one another. Sometimes the smallest of gifts has the most meaning.
Do not pile up debt or worry over gift giving this year, just let it go!
Give God the glory in all that you give and share that love! In Jesus' name...
