Day 4-Daily Advent Countdown-In His Word 12-2-2023
And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to
go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the
village of Nazareth in Galilee. Luke 2:4
They traveled from Nazareth
to Bethlehem, obeying the laws of the time. The whole time they had to be
concerned with Mary about to give birth, the strain on her body must have been
really difficult. She was following the direction God gave her, carrying the
Son of God Himself had to be a bit strange even knowing the truth as she did. I
do not believe she was afraid as we feel fear, but I do think she probably got
a bit stressed when the inn keeper said there was not room. Maybe when she found out she was having the
baby in an animal shelter she may have had a bit of fear for the babe? Then
again, I know the scripture in 2 Timothy 1 says that God has not given us a
spirit of fear, so I believe if she trusted the Holy Spirit she would know that
all was going to be well. This was God’s son after all. Together we have
learned that perfect love casts out all fear, and in this time of year the fear
of making ends meet, before the new year, and fulfilling the needs and wants
and desires of people we love can be a scarey thing. The good news is that we
do not have to fear, those fears are not of God!
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and
of love and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7
We can take the fear and remind it who we follow, who is in
charge of our lives, we have to remember that to remind ourselves we have no
place for those fears! We just need to remember that things will happen in life
but we can just keep walking through it trusting that He will take care of us.
In Jesus’ name…
