Day 16 ~ Advent Countdown-In His Word 12-16-2023
Jesus shared a few Parables to teach the people and
especially his disciples wisdom and truth. He sometimes taught them compassion
and mercy. In this time, he shared the ‘Good Samaritan” story and tried
teaching the people about kindness, mercy and not being picky about who we
help. He was approached by a man who asked what he
could do to get eternal life as he was telling the story. He refers to it below
when asking the man a question about the people in the story to present the
answer to this man.
Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the
man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked.
The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.”
Then Jesus said,
“Yes, now go and do the same.” Luke 10:36-37
Go and do likewise, in some versions, but Jesus wanted the
man to know now that He knew who Jesus was that He could change how he lived.
As the new year gets closer each day we often plan for things to change with
the digits. This year lets examine our hearts and see if there is something in
us that we can change. An attitude, a mood we pick up often, maybe a way of
thinking we need to stop falling back on. Let’s ask God to change the ways we
need to change and just accept what we can’t change. In Jesus’ name…
