Day 15 ~ Advent Countdown-In His Word 12-15-2023
Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good
and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly
lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth
through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.
James 1:16-18
Every time we try to get the best gift, the perfect gift, we
are competing against God. He is the only
one who gives the perfect gift. That perfect salvation, that perfect love that
gives it to us. Only God can do that. So many people do the whole search for
the best, pay the most kind of thing during this time of year that really is
not necessary.
When my kids were young we would try to give them three
things, one need, one desire and one article of clothing. I am not sure where I got the idea of the number, maybe to keep them from getting too many things each year. Through the years it
expanded a bit here and there and went back to the main three. I had a few
years, I am not afraid to admit, that I tried to out do myself with meeting the
kids desires, but then there were times that I realized it was not necessary.
We had years we made most of the things under and on the trees. Those things were
the best because they came from the heart. When my kids made things for their grandparents
it gave them smiles, just like when they made things for me and my husband.
