Day 13~ Advent Countdown-In His Word 12-13-2023
Recently I viewed a movie and the key word in the whole
lesson of Christmas time was this, “there is no deed too small,” and it
reminded me of the scripture that tells us not to despise the days of small beginnings.
Those are not the exact words but let me look it up!
Zerubbabel is the one who laid the foundation of this
Temple, and he will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s
Armies has sent me. Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord
rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” Zechariah
4:9-11
It was a small thing to start the foundation of the Temple
but Zerubbabel begin the great work of this rebuild. In the end there would be
many hands doing their parts before it was completed. The point I was caught up
on was the fact that no one thing that you can do for someone is too small. At
this time of year a lot of us worry or struggle to meet the desires of our
friends and loved ones, or to help others but we do not have the strength or
the funds always to meet them. We need to remember that even the small things
we do are benefiting that person.
When we benefit one person it can change their life, which
in turn can change another life, and another and another… you see what I mean?
Check out Mary! She was a good woman if there ever was one.
Though she was young she was obedient to God when He sent an angel to tell her
she was chosen by God to bare His son. She did her part.
Jesus was born. Joseph did His part; he took care of Mary
and Jesus. The owner of the Inn did his part by having a stable to send them to
birth Jesus in a humble place.
No deed done for the right reason is too small to make a
difference in someone’ life.
And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be
born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of
cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for
them. Luke 2:6-7
Take the stable, you don’t have to have the fancy place to give
but give of what you have.
Think, ponder and wonder on these things today; what can I
do no matter how small, that can made a difference in someone’s life tomorrow?
In Jesus’ name, and In His love
