Word! in His Word 9-24-23
Around this time of the year a lot of people start
praying for what their word for the year is going to be but today I want you to
think about what is your word for today.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my
path. Psalm 119:105
The word of the Lord is right. For the word of the
Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. Psalm 33:4
If his Word is a lamp to your feet then you will see
where to walk. If it is a light unto
your path you'll see a way ahead of you.
Our objective today is to study the Word of God. The whole Bible is our word but sometimes
when we're studying it we happen to see a certain scripture that stands out to
us. In the beginning of my Christian walk, it was;
‘Trust in the
Lord with all your heart and not in your own understanding in all your ways
acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.’ Proverbs 3:5-6
This was crucial for me back then ,and actually I've had it come up several times in
my life because as God wrote it on my heart he knew they were going to be times
in my life when I did not know what to do and I had to just trust Him. There
were times when both of my parents passed that I did not know what to do and He
said trust Him and I did.
Now I wish it was that easy, but it's not. Sometimes
when we want to trust God it is the most difficult thing for us to do. Trusting
Him to provide food for us like I've told you before how God has provided food
for me on my porch when I was single and living alone, not making enough to make ends meet at all,
barely paying my bills.. He always provided and I never will very seldom went
hungry. He always provided a place where I could get food from my dad's house,
or my friends always invited me in and
offered me food when I came to their doors for a visit. So, there was always
something in my belly.
God has given me so many words throughout the years
that I've been following Him. ‘Follow Me’ was one of them that has a residue of
trust involved in it.
You know that game ‘trust me ‘we play it to explain
to someone what it means to blindly trust because you cannot see out the back
of your head no matter how many parents and teachers say they have eyes in the
back of their head? God really sees
what's behind us. He also sees what's before us further than we can even look!
Our job, or purpose in this is to follow him blindly if necessary.
This reminds me of yesterday when my husband and I
were walking up a street in Berkeley, California .I you've been there, you know
that the streets are not really that even. You have to walk carefully and me
being me I was walking extremely carefully. .Because of this I was walking a
little bit slow while holding on to my husband's arm. I heard some tapping behind us as there was, a
couple people talking . My husband glanced back while we were walking and said
let's move over and let them go by. As
they walked by I realized there was a woman who was blind using her stick, tapping
it on the ground. That's what I heard, while she was talking with her husband.
I noticed that she was perfectly content to be walking slowly behind us, but
they thanked us and they continued on before us
This is my example of walking blindly ahead not
knowing what's in front of you . She didn't know that there was a clumsy person
walking in front of her. I'm going to take, that remark back; somebody who has happened to easily trip when
I go to fast.
All that said, I know that God my heavenly father
has given us each a word for today, it might be ‘Trust’ it might be ‘overcome’,
it might be ‘believe ‘.Whatever word it is that God has given you I want you to
think on these things.
And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
What I know about this is that when the words of the page stand out to us we need take notice. We need to pray and ask God how we can use that scripture for . I mean you know you can read through the whole Bible, and it stands out to a certain extent.
Sometimes, at
least for me , a certain scripture will
feel as though it were just written on my heart. I see it a little bit more clearly than other verses I
am reading, and I can see how that can be applied to my life in the moment that
I'm in. No, I'm not saying use it like a Horoscope! Asking God what should I
get today what is today have for me but, what I am saying is ask the Lord to guide you for
today and then trust that He will do it.
Ask the Lord to give you direction in your Bible
study today, if you are to study a word precisely or a full set of verses. Seek
the Lord in all that you do, and especially in the Word.
So, today as he lights your path I trust that you
will find I were to walk in a word to live in as you walk in his love,
