Who do you pray for? Coundown in His Word! Day 27

 Who do you pray for?

As the old year passes and the new year comes we often thing more about prayers and praying. When you pray do you only pray for your own needs or do you intercede for those you know or who live in your life?  We are to be like Jesus and In doing so we really ought to be praying for everyone who believes that they have their needs met, and also those who do not know Him yet that they may know the Truth and the Truth shall set them free.

Sounds like a lot doesn’t it. I mean you could be praying for hours if you listed and named everyone on your list who needs a prayer answered.

I have a friend who recently lost a parent and is trying hard to deal with the loss plus help the surviving parent to survive as well. Though she is strong she is not strong enough to do it all without Christ helping with divine appointments. So, I lift her up as often as I think of her, which this week is really often!  There may be others I pray for but at the same time its all about who God brings to remembrance or the needs put before you.

The main thing is to pray to sanctify yourself so that your motives are pure in prayer and you do not pray amiss. James 4:2-3 says; Yet you do not have because you do not ask.  You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Be careful what you pray for! That is what I have heard in regards to some prayers for patience, but then sometimes that is really what you need!

As you will find below in John, Jesus prayed for us! Even before we believed!  That alone gives me the reason to pray for others aside from myself.

If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. But reject profane and old wives’ fables and exercise yourself toward godliness.1 Timothy 4:4-6

They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 18 Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. John 17:16-18

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [j]will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.  And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:20-26

Pray.
