Making Memories in my Heart- Countdown Day 26

Countdown Day 26

Hope you had a fun Boxing Day aka Christmas Monday in some parts of the world. Hoping you wiere enjoying time with family or friends, maybe eating left over goodies or playing boardgames. I went to return stuff. It is funny but every boxing day I remember asking my dad why they call it “Boxing Day” , I think I was about ten years old and his reply was priceless!

“Boxing Day is when you take all the things you didn’t want and box them up and bring them back to the store.”  As a child I was worried he would box up my toys, but as an adult I know he was only kidding me. That was one of the fun memories I have of my dad.

I have good memories with my earthly father even though he was pretty strict. I believe it taught me to be obedient to God as well. Though we did not grow up as church goers he often would say the Lord this or that. I did not know the Lord, so it just was kind of interesting to me, but that was it,

When Jesus was 12 his family were In Jerusalem again and when everyone was done doing what they needed the group headed home. Three days into the journey they realized that Jesus wasn’t there!

Now as a parent you may ask what in the world? Why did it take three days? I’d have known when and were my kid was, though I was considered protective. But would I really? The family group was big! They knew everyone and Jesus was a ‘good kid’.  My favorite thing was when the parents found him! Read the scriptures below and you will see what I mean, but Jesus was respectful even when he didn’t have to be! I admire that about Him.

So, when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”0 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them. Luke 2:48-50

What are some memories you are making this week? Are you spending a day or two with relatives or friends, or maybe helping out in a soup kitchen?

Whatever you are doing do all you do to the glory of God.

In His love,
