What are you thinking? Count down Day 17
What are you thinking about right
now? You just opened an email or Instagram and found this count down blog post.
Are you thinking about Christmas? Are you thinking about all the lists you have
to finish? Or have you gotten to this point and realized we would again be
talking about focusing on Jesus and His Word? When we fill our minds with the
scriptures we renew it, we cleanse it and we grow in wisdom like Jesus, only we
are really only human. Still, through the verses that we read, the chapters we
read we can gain such knowledge and power, and peace, hope and love will fill
us! That’s one of the reasons God breathed the Word into existence. Then we
learn to pray, to study to show ourselves approved by God, and we learn to
worship Him. The more we know His Word, it becomes easier to keep our minds on
Him. Isaiah 26:3 says that He will keep
in perfect peace whose mind is stayed, or focused, on Him, because we trust in
Him.
God blesses those whose hearts are
pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of
God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of
Heaven is theirs. Matthew 5:8-10
Do not conform to the pattern of
this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be
able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect
will. Romans 12:2
We need to not get stuck on the
worlds way of celebrating Jesus but worship Him. We give gifts in example of
His gift of Salvation but how far do we go with this? It is so easy to slip
over and get caught up in giving more and more until we have nothing else to give,
unless what we give is peace, hope and love in Jesus’ name. If we give our
gifts in love, God’s love filling needs not just whims, then we can keep our
hearts pure before God and not get caught up in the cares of the World. Then we
can have that perfect peace in the moments heading up to Christmas and the new
year ahead.
Let’s focus on Him, and pray, Lord,
help us to follow your example and give the needs not just the desires but the
things that will lead others to You, in Jesus’s name,
In His Love,
Teresa Wilson
