God Works in You ~ Count Down Day 18

God works in you, Count Down Day 18

The title of today’s blog is chosen by the title of my notes from another study. I looked up the verse that I had written with a connecting line and these words. I think it stood out to me because it is important to remember that Christmas is not about our gifts, our good times, but it is about God working in us to share His love with others in the way of gifts. I guess what I want to say I that you need to not stress out over what you get someone but instead think first of the person, ask God what would be that good and perfect thing to gift them with. Then trust that God will provide what you need to find that certain thing that He can use to bring peace, hope and love this Christmas!

When I think of gift giving for my kids at Christmas,  I generally do one need, one desire and one pair of PJs. I just thought about that and that’s like what God does! One Father, the need to be. One Desire – the Lord Jesus who brings the desired salvation. Then One PJ, something that will be comfortable like the Holy Spirit in our lives!

Sure, that’s a stretch to some of you, but it’s pretty cool! Take a moment and think about the gifts you give out this year; do they line up with the will of God in His Word? Read, pray, rejoice as you enjoy the countdown a few more days!

Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this. You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. So, I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.  There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 1 Corinthians 12:1-7

But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.1 Corinthians 15:10

Now may the God of peace who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood— may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you,  through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. Hebrew 13:20-21

In His Love,

Teresa Wilson
