Hide them in Your Heart- Count Down Day 16

Count Down  Day 16

Many people do not like to decorate for Christmas the way I like to decorate. I like to have trees all over with some ornaments here and there that theme each area of the house. I have even had one in the bathroom once! Part of tht may be because I have always like to play with decorating things and pretend.

Sometimes the way we look at things, or people, changes once we get to know who they are. Like for instance, Mary and Joseph knew who Jesus was and yet I often wonder if they really got it before he was found in the temple tht day. They knew him their son, who God gave them the words that He would be the Savior of the World. They knew this but I think when they found 12-year-old Jesus teaching in the Temple it was like an “aha moment”.

When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there.  Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions.  All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. His parents didn’t know what to think. “Son,” his mother said to him, “why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere.”

“But why did you need to search?” he asked. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they didn’t understand what he meant. Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. And his mother stored all these things in her heart. Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people. Luke 2 46-52

“Mary kept these things in her heart” jut as any mother would do while watching them reaching out towards their destiny. She kept the memories as Jesus grew up and probably reminded herself that He was not just her child, but that He belonged to the people. God’s will would be done on earth as it is in heaven,

I guess today’s count down is about counting the memories that we have with family or friends. Take the time so notice the things that go on around you. The cookies being baked or eaten, the children sipping cocoa by the fire. Watch for the little things that are a glimpse of the person they will become, just like Mary did hold them in your heart.

In His love,
