Get it Right! ~ in His Word, Advent 12-20-21

Get it right!  In His Word

Days run into days at this time of year and it is easy to get caught up in the cares of this world, we need to take time to get things organized and plan out our days right. Start our days with Him, then everything will fall into place.  In His Word.

This morning I was reading in Habakkuk 2. It has a lot of great information and encouragement if you read the full on book. There is also a lot of warnings of things getting harry. Now, some would read it and be afraid but I read it and thought, look God wrote of crazy stuff happening to Israel, or His people, and not without clearly stating what they had to do to get right with Him. Sometimes we just have to 'smarten up and fly right" as the saying was when I was a kid. That may be dating me but I am old enough to know that God wants His people to follow His directions in order to live a life full of all that Joy, Peace, and Love we read about and hear about this time of year.

Sometimes I think we fluff up the Holiday Season to make ourselves feel better. This year a lot of people are looking to the future and thinking if they can just get through today that tomorrow will be better. Maybe it will but not if they are waiting around filling their days with stuff to do and ignoring the things they need to change in their lives. I read over and over again in the Word of God that He reveals Himself and His plans for His people and they are all in. The next generation they are lax again, and sometimes even the next generation gets worse and following in the patter they eventually cry out to God and ask for His forgiveness and guidance again. They throw away their idols, whatever they are, and look to the Scriptures and follow His guidance and trust God again.

There is a pattern of life there.

Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.”

They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! Psalm 14:1-3

Let's not follow the pattern but instead let us separate ourselves from among the masses and do things correctly before the Lord today! Let's 'forget about ourselves and concentrate on Him and worship Him' as the old chorus sang out back in the day. Let's stop trying to make life with God all about us and get it right!

I will praise you in the great assembly. I will fulfill my vows in the presence of those who worship you. The poor will eat and be satisfied. All who seek the Lord will praise him. Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy. The whole earth will acknowledge the Lord and return to him.  All the families of the nations will bow down before him. Psalm 22:25-27

I do not have to be perfect I just have to love Him, His love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8)

I do not have to be prosperous I just have to follow His guidance and accept what He brings me as a blessing and honor Him in it. He will provide all I need when I put my trust in Him.  (Philippians 4:19)

I do not have to be sitting on the top of the world thinking of how great I am, I just need to be kneeling or sitting at His feet and listening, reading His Word and being obedient to praise Him. (Matthew 6:33)

Most of all I need to get rid of my idols of me me me, and put in their place God, in the name of Jesus, with the Holy Spirit guidance. Then, yes then, I will find Hope, Love, Joy and Peace in Him!

I need to get it right to be 'happy' and 'whole' by putting my trust in Him.

Go back to the old choruses this week, think about the songs they used to sing that drew you into His presence as they say. I mean He is here anyway but we need to put everything aside sometimes and just sit at His feet. Google will play your favorite old songs if you want them, just ask. God is more powerful than Google so just ask Him to give you some time, some guidance, and the Words to sing... in Jesus' name.

This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed. Habakkuk 2:3
