Ponderings in His Word 4-4-2021
I could take a walk down Romans Road right now, as they call the scripture trail that teaches us so much important ‘stuff’ for our Christian walk. Today I read through Romans Chapter 8 and though I had turned there to read verses 5-6 that tells us to live according to the Spirit and pay attention to that because living according to the flesh, or humanness will lead us to death and destruction. Something that came to mind, even if it seems like in this world things are going well, we need to be watchful. We need to keep our mind on the right things right now! Do not say oh good we all have vaccines we can go be world-like again. Keep on praying daily, keep on spending that time alone with Him because He is still Lord of our lives and He is still on the throne! Do not get swept up on the carefree days of Spring thinking all is well when the enemy lurks out there still, in the form of a virus or in the form of destructive behavior. Our world is not well. Live like God is in control does not mean go out there and be
foolish. I just want us all to remember that we still need God. We need to live
like Him. Be the Word to the lost, be the hope to the hopeless, be the joy to
the sorrowful; because we have Christ Jesus living in us through the Holy
Spirit, live like Him.
Be obedient to His Word.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in
Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the
Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from
the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak
through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful
flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous
requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to
the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the
flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according
to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be [b]carnally minded is death,
but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is
enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the
flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if
anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Romans 8:1-9 nkjv
We belong to God. We are His people, just as much as the Hebrew
children were, are, we are His children for we have been grafted in the vine,
as they do with grapes to add in flavors.
And since Abraham and the other patriarchs were holy, their
descendants will also be holy—just as the entire batch of dough is holy because
the portion given as an offering is holy. For if the roots of the tree are
holy, the branches will be, too. But some of these branches from Abraham’s
tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who
were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also
receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the
rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree. But you must not brag about being grafted in
to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the
root. Romans 11:16-16
We need to remember that we have a strong purpose in Christ, to share the truth with the lost and to uphold those who are of the branches; in Christ as we walk in His Spirit, we can do this. Many in the world will go off all ‘willy-nilly’ doing things they should not do, but we cannot afford to do these things for we have a job at hand. We can see the time is short, we know the times to a certain extent according to His Word, so we know that we have to be brave be strong and keep our spirit man attuned to Christ via the Holy Spirit. We need to not be controlled by our sinful nature but to allow the Holy Spirit within us to guide our steps.
Those who are called the people who are of the world do not
have Christ in them but some will be open to Him. We need to find the lost.
Those who are searching for Him to be their Lord, Savior, and Guide.
We belong to Jesus; thus we are called Christians in the
same way those who belong to, or are of America are called Americans, and the
Canadians from Canada. Being of Christ we are to live like Him. Walk worthy of
our calling and do the will of the Father, not our own, though I have to tell
you when we are walking in His will it will not always seem like a chore, it
will be blissfully sweet to experience God as they say. When we do the will of
the Father and walk in His direction; we can trust Him to show us where to go
and what to do that will give us joy as well as peace! When we try to do things
on our own without God’s guidance sometimes it works out but mostly it will
pull us away from something good to fill the needs of something not so good.
I have known a lot of people in my lifetime who served God,
and a lot who did not. I have seen them both go through sorrow and pain, and
the ones who follow after God seem to stand stronger through it than those who
do not. That if no other reason is one to allow our nature to be changed by the
Spirit to one of obedience to God’s Word,, and His law.
But you are not
controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have
the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the
Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though
your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have
been made right with God. The Spirit of
God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised
Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this
same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:9-11
Just as Christ was raised from the dead we are raised from a
dead life style to a newness of life! We can be brought out of the solitary
stuck at home life of 2020 and slowly be introduced to society again but how
much do we want to return to that old life? We need to examine our lives while
things open up and work gets back to ‘normal-ish’ and see what God wants us to
do with it. What will He do with you today and tomorrow as the stores,
restaurants etc., start to slack? Will you slack off as well? Be strong in the power of His might my
friends, stay on task with the reading of the Word and keep the prayer times
solid in your walk. Be close to Christ when you go out in the world that He
will protect you and give you peace in Jesus name.
