Dailies – in His Word
November 2019
I love it when the writers of the Word say that their message is a pass on from God! I mean, the whole Bible is God breathed scripture but you know when they mention it, well, it gives you reason to take note! In this section I loved also that it’s a ‘smarten up’ kind of thing; as in “hey if you are walking with God in your life then you better smarten up and accept that God’s light is light, it does not dwell in darkness so we need to get rid of anything of dark influence in our lives to live with peace. Otherwise it’s like saying “Hey God I’m ‘gonna go do this thing for a bit you can just wait here in the car”. And seriously who would do that literally? No one!
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So, we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.  But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.1 John 5-10
We need to call ourselves out on the spot I we ever thing we have no sin in our lives, I was guilty of thinking that since I gave all my sins to God I had no more… pride right there! First sin I found in me, pride, second … I lied! I was not pure, and holy, though I tried to be. I did what I thought I should, I prayed every day, and read my Bible but God pointed out that no one but God is truly pure and free from sin. Not even the most spiritual person you know!  Why do I say this? It’s in the Word, and we are human, we are destined to sin. It is unfortunately our ‘Adam nature’ to sin, but the good news is each day we can ask God to help us stay in the light, not sin intentionally and clear up anything we do without realizing or thinking about it as a sin first. As with pride, I fight the sin with prayer and praising to God for the imperfections in my life and try to accept that I am not God, (you can laugh) and I am nowhere near perfect. Someday I will be when I am transformed into His likeness but as long as I walk in this world in this fleshly body, I will not be perfect—yet!
Heavenly Father, thank you for showing us our sin that we can ask you to cleanse us daily that we may walk pure before your eyes and be a good example of humbleness when we ask forgiveness daily or as often as needed.. forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those… in Jesus name, amen.
