What? Were you even thinking?

Dailies ~ in His Word
 10/14/19

It has been said ‘you are what you eat’ but I venture to say ‘you are what you think!’

As a Christian I am taught that I should behave a certain way but if it is not in my mind and heart, I will not choose to follow those rules. This but another reason to get into your Bible daily and study to show yourself what is in there! We can read through the Word of God in a year but If we do not apply it to our lives then we will not even ‘get it’ as we read. It will become like a text book that we agonize over having to study or it can become the Word of Life that it was meant to be when God had it penned and eventually printed and produced for us to view and ingest!
So, as we read it; think on it. As we think in it; we activate it into our life routines, so that as we are actively seeking God along with the Word of God itself, we can grow to keep our minds on the correct things and not on the sinful desires of our hearts. Greed, lust, selfish glory; these are a few things that can draw us away from a peaceful walk with Christ.
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory. so put to death the sinful earthly things lurking within you. Colossians 3:1-4
Do not allow your thoughts to rule you; instead you rule your thoughts!  We have control over what we think, even though we are influenced by so many things it is up to us to consciously make the choice about what we wish to apply to our hearts and minds. Inevitably it will be our lives that we apply it to; set your mind on thing above and your life will follow by rote!
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice; let your forbearance be known to all men; the Lord [is] near; for nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer, and by supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God; and the peace of God, that is surpassing all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. As to the rest, brethren, as many things as are true, as many as [are] grave, as many as [are] righteous, as many as [are] pure, as many as [are] lovely, as many as [are] of good report, if any worthiness, and if any praise, these things think upon; Philippians 4:4-8
This portion of scripture came up I my daily reads one day, from my chosen Bible Application. It was the perfect timing as I had actually tripped and fallen on the pavement earlier that day and was worrying if I had done serious damage or if I was just going t have to ice and rest a day or so. There were so many ways my mind could have gone, the pain, the swelling and past injuries came to my mind and I remembered that I have been through a couple times in life that I focused on God instead of the problem. I chose to keep plugging along as much as possible, and asked my prayer friends to pray. I went to bed with a set of swollen legs, feet and one arm. I prayed as I awoke in the night and trusted my friends and family had too. I awoke in the morning with the swelling down, and the pain bearable. A couple bruises beginning to show but with out the swelling I could assess the injuries are just muscles low level and life would iron itself out in a few days among some pretty colors applying themselves to my skin!  Following the RICE method helps when you injure yourself physically, when you study the Word, keep it in your heart it helps you to remember the spiritual things you need to walk in peace among the pain in the same way! We can assess our thoughts today; is it on the Word
Are you thinking the right things? If not, then maybe you are allowing the wrong things in to be thought? If I read trashy things trashing things will come out; if I watch shows that have vulgar language that is what I will think on. Personally, I would much rather think on the things above that are pure, holy, joyful, peaceful, loving…
I would rather have reason to rejoice in the God of my salvation than to rejoice because my team won the Superbowl! I would rather rejoice and think n the reasons to rejoice in a God who saved me, healed me and brings me out of the miry pits of life into the life of peace and ‘good feels’!
Our God shall supply all our needs; including the proper things, the good things, the right things to think on today!
So, what will you choose to do today? Think on these things… Selah!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word today, help us to read it, to think on it and to apply it to our hearts like a salve, and our lives like a guideline to follow right to You. In Jesus’ name, amen!
