Dailies ~ in His Word
October 2019
Do not let yourself be tied up in the cares of the world. Follow the rules!
Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get
tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the
officer who enlisted them. And athletes cannot win the prize unless
they follow the rules. 2 Timothy 2:3-5
Now these are the
ones sown among thorns; they are the
ones who hear the word, and the cares of this
world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other
things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. But these are the
ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and
bear fruit: some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
Mark 4:18-20
Don’t get carried away with the things of this world my
friend, but instead stand fast be on guard and attention to where you are
walking so that you do not get tripped up with the sin that’s wanders around us
in this world. It is so easy to do what the people around us do, to walk in
greed or laziness or worse things that draw us away from God and closer to selfishness.
Our God has a better plan for us! He wants us to walk in love, kindness,
gentleness, etc. He wants us to choose what is good and right.
Sometimes we just need to be reminded to stand guard so we
can fight against the wiles of the devil. We do not want to run into Satan and
his cronies but sometimes he steps in the way pushing us toward the wrong
things. When we remember to stand strong and cowboy up in the Lord then we will
know we can stand strong against whatever the enemy tosses against us!
We need to walk humbly, upright, strong, sincere before our
God, but we know this! We have the Holy Spirit to direct our path.
You already know these things, dear friends. So be on
guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people
and lose your own secure footing.
Rather, you must
grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.
1 John 1:17-18
Heavenly Father thank You for being
patient and guiding our steps, help us to stand our guard and be strong in Your
Spirit and Your might that we may withstand against the temptations of this
world. In Jesus’ name, amen.
