Dailies~ in His Word

Everything is
meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!”
Ecclesiastes 1:2
Here is another
bit of wisdom that has impressed me as I have watched the way our world works. Ecclesiastes 9:12
As I study through the book of Ecclesiastes I find myself
both encouraged and then down trodden, or rather depressed. The teacher, the
preacher, the writer, makes us wonder as he goes through every emotion we can
fathom as he explains what he has found out about life. As a wise man he has a
lot to say! We read 12 chapters of
advice for the young and old alike, as he writes from the wisdom from viewing
the ages and stages of life around him. The reader can become caught up I the
emotions and read the folly, instead of the wisdom as a good thing for a few
verses but as you continue on you will find it is all good because God has it
all in His hands and as long as you put your trust, hope, and enjoyment in His
hands then you will find eternal happiness and joy is better than a short
moment of fun on the earth!
So go ahead. Eat your food with joy… with a happy heart, for
God approves of this! Wear fine clothes, with a splash of
cologne! Chapter 9:7
I have observed
something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race,
and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go
hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated
don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in
the right place at the right time. Chapter 9:11
We are given instruction to enjoy life, to enjoy food and
drink but to keep it in moderation as it will have consequences and we will
find so many things give us happiness in their time but the long lasting joy
from the Lord is the thing to seek. Life on earth is short but life in Christ
is eternal and we must remember to keep that as our ballast in life. Stay
secure in Christ and know that He is acceptable in all we choose to do in life.
Remember that Christ is with us in all we do, even if we choose to pretend that
He is not, He is there with us always.
The writer of the
book of Ecclesiastes. also mentions that bad stuff happens to both the good and
the evil, but I think what we need to recall is that those who put their trust
in God are the ones who ultimately will have someone to lean on when their house
falls down.
We are instructed not to be lazy, but to do good, to fix our
houses that they do not fall down and to give God the glory in all that we do.
God will open doors for us if we look to Him to do so; but
we need to be ready to walk into the life He puts before us and do what God
says.
And
further, from these, my son, be warned; the making of many books hath no end,
and much study [is] a weariness of the flesh. The end of the whole matter let
us hear: -- `Fear God, and keep His commands, for this [is] the whole of man.
For every
work doth God bring into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether good or
bad.' Ecclesiastes 12:11-13
He will bless us and keep us when we accept with our whole
heart that He is Lord of all things, all food, clothing, housing, will come and
go and the Word of God will remain.
Trust Him, love Him, and Follow Him. Selah!
Heavenly Father, thank you for everything You give, and do
for us, over all we ask wisdom to know what is right and good in Your sight,
that we may do these. In Jesus’ name amen.
