And therefore we also having so
great a cloud of witnesses over our head, laying aside every weight and sin
which surrounds us, let us run by patience to the fight proposed to us: looking on Jesus, the author and
finisher of faith, who having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising
the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God. For think diligently upon him that endured such opposition
from sinners against himself; that you be not wearied, fainting in your minds. For you have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against
sin: And you have forgotten the consolation, which speaketh to
you, as unto children, saying: My son, neglect not the discipline of the Lord;
neither be thou wearied whilst thou art rebuked by him. For whom the Lord loves, he chastises; and he scourges
every son whom he receives. Persevere
under discipline. God dealeth with you as with his sons; for what son is there,
whom the father doth not correct? Hebrews 12 1-7
We all have a time in our lives
when something tempts us to do the wrong thing. Maybe it is eating that huge
burger and fries when we are on a strict diet, or spending money when we are
already in debt on frivolous things. Whatever it is that draws us toward the
wrong thing is pulling us away from the right, or Godly things in our lives.
If we know it is wrong to do and we
do it then it is sin to us. No matter what it is the best plan?
We just need to get rid of the things that draw us away from
God. If we do, or rather when we do, God will bless us for our obedience! If we
try to ignore it without God’s help, we will probably fail. If we listen to God
and do not ignore Him, we know we cannot ignore God, right? Oh sure we can try, but He will be there
wherever we are! How foolish it is of us to even think we could ignore God! God
who is all knowing and all seeing! Ha! Silly self! Not to mention if God is for
us no thing can stand against us, why would we want to go against His will for
us?
If we are right with God we will know the truth and it will
truly set us free. Being focused on God, the Way will be clear, the Truth will
be in front of us and He will light the way!
Do not give up trying to do the
right thing, God is for you and no one can stand against you. Just because God
stops you does not mean He does not know your heart, keep in contact with Him,
and it will go well.
Heavenly Father, help us to follow
Your path every day and be obedient to You in all we do, not just the going to
church stuff but living our lives as well. In Jesus’ name, amen.
