Dailies~ In His Word ...July 13, 2019
What is faith? Why
do we care? What is its purpose? According to Hebrews 11 faith is the substance
of things hoped for. There are a lot of people given as examples in the Word
and a few that I can give you from my life. Faith is Abram believing that God
will make him ‘the father of many nations’ as he was told, to the point of
telling people of his new name, Abraham even when he had no children! Now faith is the substance of
things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not. For by this the ancients obtained a testimony. By faith we understand that the world was framed by the
word of God; that from invisible things visible things might be made.
Hebrews 11:1-3
In more modern terms faith believes for your own children to
grow and become the wise me and women that God can use to either share the
gospel or support those who do. Faith believes that when things get rough along
the way that God will come through for you and make you strong enough, because
He is strong enough. He is the in substance!
Without faith’s substance it is empty. I dare say it is
false. It is easy to claim to have
faith, but not to truly believe. Esau is
used as an example of one who gave up his faith for food, in impatience he went
for what he desired over what God could have given him.
But without faith
it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God, must believe that he
is, and is a rewarder to them that seek him. Hebrews 11:6
We need to remember that God has a plan, and in that plan we
trust Him to be the strength of our lives, to be the hope that pushes our faith
to be stronger and secure in believing for whatever it is.
If I have faith for someone to hear the call of God, then I
have to have faith to let God bring them through the rough patches to be
prepared to reach the lost. I have to trust that God knows what He is doing
with my own life when I have faith that He will publish the books He has given
me! So many written, just waiting, for such a time as this!
God gives us a measure of faith but what we do with it is what
makes it grow. When we choose to believe, it grows stronger… when we choose to
allow Him to do the work needed, it
grows stronger still! We can do it! With
God all things are possible if we believe!
And make straight steps with your
feet: that no one, halting, may go out of the way; but rather be healed.
Follow peace
with all men, and holiness: without which no man shall see God. Looking diligently, lest any man
be wanting to the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up do
hinder, and by it many be defiled.Hebrews 12:13-15
Heavenly Father, help us to have faith today that You will
do the work that You will bring the peace, that You will do the plan, In Jesus’
name, amen.
