Feed my sheep… Jesus said.
So many people talk about Peter when they read the scripture
about the sheep, and they forget that we are to do the same. We are to feed His
sheep, so they are not frail when they serve and feed other sheep!
The sheep in our pasture would be those who are regular
attendees who sometimes serve, or huddle together with one another at church.
Jesus was huddled with His disciples once and He asked a few
questions.
He said
to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”
He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
He said
to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because
He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”
And he
said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. John 2 1:16-18
When we serve at our church
they provide us with a continental breakfast and snacks to keep our
physical bodies energized. They also add in a quick devotional to fill our
souls and keep our spirits soaring through the serve time when we meet and
greet new arrivals and old!
If we did not have this our serve team would very possibly slow
down or get ‘hangry’! So Personally I am delighted with the fact that we can
serve one another, and feed the sheep.
The shepherd feeds the sheep and in turn the sheep created
cloth for the shepherds, it was a win-win situation there! As we feed the sheep
we receive the joy in knowing we are encouraging other believers in Christ’s
love.
Just something to think on today…
Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to feed Your
sheep, in Jesus’ name, amen.
