Dailies~ in His Word
July 2019
But I have all,
and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things you sent,
an odor of sweetness, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And may my God
supply all your want, (needs) according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:18-19
When we give an
offering of our kindness it blesses the people we send it to but it also brings
a specially blessing on us. If we are short on funds and we see someone worse
off than us, maybe our friend has no lunch and we just have a pb and J sandwich;
if we share it with them then we both eat. The PBJ is a sweet acceptable
sacrifice that would be pleasing to God.
God will supply
all our needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. What does that
even mean? Really, I believe it means that the things we need are what He will
supply, not just things we think we need.
When we think
of others above ourselves, and that’s often what sacrificing is, we send off a
nice smelling God pleasing scent, sort of like when a hamburger is cooking on a
grill. It smells as good as it tastes!
So to God when we do good it pleases Him the same way!
Think about how
good it feels when someone gives you something you really needed.
Heavenly Father
help us to help others in need by giving of our own. In Jesus’ name, amen.
