Substance! -In
His Word 4-9-2019
What kind of
substance are you looking for in the Bible today? Are you the one who says; ‘I want a good read’
or , ‘I want an easy message to understand and apply to my life?’ Either way to
get substance you have to dig into the Word of God and ask, seek and find! The best way to do that is to have a bit of faith!
And faith is of things hoped for a confidence,
of matters not seen a conviction, for in this were the elders testified of;
by faith we
understand the ages to have been prepared by a saying of God, in regard to the
things seen not having come out of things appearing; Hebrews 11:1-3
In some versions it
says “ faith is the substance…” So how do you gain faith? By reading the Word
of God, by applying what you learn to your heart. By doing what you learn and
trust God to help you.
But to do this you
need to first believe that He is who He says He is.
Then
Jesus told them this: “If I am
merely boasting about myself, it doesn’t count. But it is my Father—and you
claim him as your God—who is saying these glorious things about me.
But you do not even know him. I do. If I said otherwise, I
would be as great a liar as you! But it is true—I know him and fully obey him.
John 8:65-66 tlb
Then you have to
believe that He will do what He says He will do!
Come now, you who
say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there,
buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor
that appears for a little time and then vanishes. James 4:12-14
If you still wonder
about getting substance in His Word, how to get it with faith, obedience and
living out the Word then just ask! His Word tells us to ask Him for what we
desire!
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek,
and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks
receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among
you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a
serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to
your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things
to those who ask Him!
Therefore, whatever you want men to
do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:7-12
Ask of Me, and I
will give You the nations for Your inheritance,and the ends of the earth for Your possession. Psalm 2:8
He wants to give
us the desires of our hearts cry, Jesus wants to be our substance in His Word!
He wants us to know Him more, to see Him, to love Him and to walk with Him step
by step today! So what are you going to do about it?
Heavenly Father,
I ask that You would answer the questions we present to gain more sustenance in
Your Word today, and everyday! We thank You for the written word, the Bible. Open
our ears and eyes a we read today in Jesus name, amen.
