Dailies ~in His Word
March 2019
Why do
you read the Bible? Is it to grow in knowledge or spirit?
Maybe
both?
And so, dear brothers and
sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done
for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find
acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this
world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you
think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and
pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2
I think I read the Word of
God that my mind may be renewed and my knowledge of God is increased but also
so that I can get encouragement each day. I want to know what is that pleasing,
good and perfect will of God and if I do not read the Word of God I will not
know God well enough to know what it is.
Now it came to pass,
as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one
of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his
disciples.” So He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread.. Luke 11:1-3
If we did
not read the Word would we know how to pray? If we did not read the Word would
we know about God? Well sure, we could know how to pray because the Holy Spirit
gives us the knowledge of God, good and evil, and a few things like that. We
could also lean who God is from walking into a church or talking to other
believers but then you have their perspective not the God breathed words in the
Bible. So I think we need to read!
I
personally get encouraged, directed and often times corrected in the Word each
day. I do not think I could stop the habit of reading, I am not sure I would be
a happy person if I had not the Word to refresh myself with daily.
What
about you Think for a bit about why you read the Word today, and pray ask God
to enhance that purpose!
Heavenly
Father, open our eyes to read Your Word and give us understanding, in Jesus’
name, Amen.
