Dailies in His Word
February 6, 2019
An
interesting thing about Jesus and preaching in his home town was that He had
grown up there as a fairly normal person. Well, there was that time when he
went to be counted that one year. We read about him as about 12 years old
preaching to the people in the temple.
He
did mention to his parents Mary and Joseph that they should have expected him
to be about his Father’s business. But that was not in Nazareth. In Nazareth
Jesus was just Jesus Mary’s son. He was the son of a carpenter, not a wise
scholar, but a tradesman who had a skill like his dad, Joseph did. It would be like you or I walking into our
home town and people not knowing how we became a Bible Scholar and us telling
them all the wise words we knew. ( Matthew 13:53-56)
So they were offended at Him.
But Jesus said to
them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country
and in his own house.” Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their
unbelief. Matthew 13:57-58
I thank God that He sees us as we are
according to His plan. If we seem to have a learning issue in grade school it
won’t necessarily keep us from writing a blog about Jesus and what He has done
for us. Nor will it stop us from preaching and teaching the Word of God that
God has enlightened us with the knowledge and skill to do so. Thankfully God
has a plan for each of us and we too much be about our Father’s business!
Heavenly Father, thank you for using us even
if it’s in a way we could not have learned on our own, but by Your Spirit we
can do all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
