Dailies In
His Word

The danger of not moving forward is that we can get stuck
in a rut. In a hole in the ground, though we can crawl out of it eventually it
will take more effort once we are in it. In Hebrews it teaches about the perils
of not progressing. It is kind of like water that is not moving forward; it
tends to get pretty gross. It breeds mosquitoes, and other disgusting smelly things
like algae and fungus.
There
is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain,
especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. You have been believers so long now that you
ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the
basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat
solid food. For
someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is
right. Solid food is for those who are
mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between
right and wrong. Hebrews
5:11-14
So
let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us
go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to
start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and
placing our faith in God. You don’t need
further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of
the dead, and eternal judgment. And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.
Hebrews 6:2-3
We
need to grow in Christ and in our resolve to do what He wants us to do in life.
When you and I get stuck we can start to ignore the things God wants us to do.
Bible reading and study can slack, and even fellowship with other believers. If
we do not dig in the Word more and talk to God often then we will not go
forward, we will not grow to be mature Christians but like babies will need the
milk of the word again to get a clue.
Heavenly
Father, help us to grow closer, more like, and more attuned to Your plan for us
each day, let us not grow weary or stagnant but be encouraged and excited to
follow after You. In Jesus name, amen,
