Dailies ~In His Word 2019
Day 19
Peter wrote a lot of things; mostly he gives us some good wisdom on how
to behave as a Christian. The following scriptures are an example of elders or
those who have known the Lord for a while, and how they should set a good
example in service.
He encourages us to serve with humbleness and grace, not out of aggravation
or spite.
The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow
elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of
the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as
overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest
gain but eagerly; nor as being lords
over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd
appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
Likewise you
younger people, submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of you be
submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore humble yourselves under
the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:1-7
When we work for someone
else we need to be humble in how we serve them, whether it is our job or act of
ministry or mission, our attitude is everything once again.
The
more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But
those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting
that they have been cleansed from their old sins. 2 Peter 1:8-9
The entire two books of 1,
and 2nd Peter are full of such good advice here! I know that the
more we read the more we learn how to act and how to draw nearer to Him. Today
lets thinking on the things Peter tells us.
Heavenly father, help us
to follow your advice through Peter and behave toward one another as You would,
in Jesus name, amen.
