Dailies~ In His Word
Day 21
Do you know the Lord? Do we really know Him? If we do it is
evident in our actions, starting with how we treat one another. If we love Him,
then we know Him, and if we know Him then we love others. It is that simple.
The commandments, that the writer refers to here is to love God and love others
as much as we love ourselves.
So ask yourself, “do I treat other people and even God as
well as I treat myself?”
Another thing it mentions in this chapter is not to love the
world. Do we put things, or doing things ahead of spending time getting to know
Him? Do we want to do what we consider ‘fun stuff’ instead of following the
direction He is leading?
My little children, these things I write to you, so that
you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and
not for ours only but also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His
commandments. He
who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and
the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is
perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to
walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:1-6
He knows our hearts and minds. Think on these things a few
moments today while you enjoy your morning. Overcome the wicked one; don’t get
caught up in the cares of the world today.
I have written to you, fathers, because you have known
Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the
word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.
1 John 2:14
Heavenly Father, help us to always put your directions first
in our lives, no matter what we have to do each day; help us to follow Your
example. In Jesus’ name, amen
