Dailies ~in His Word 2019
Day  10
The title in Bible reading today was ‘A Call to Listen to God’. The following scripture in Hebrews brought me a focus of the fact we need to work with other people to live in peace with them. To follow God’s example giving them grace where needed and not getting mad to the point of keeping a grudge, this is listening to God.
Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears. Hebrews 12:14-17
I found that there was a lot in this chapter to glean from but today my focus is living at peace, because no matter how hard it is this is a call of God to us. He knows that people are often difficult to get along with, that we are ‘only human’ and cannot do it all. Still His word tells us that we need to forgive and to encourage one another not pushing them to the point of giving up our purpose in God’s plan for to get something that is as temporary as a meal.
This stands out as a good one for those who are fasting at this time year! When we see or smell what we are fasting, it can be torture! Well pretty close, but if we think on how Esau was so wanting the food that Jacob made that he foolishly gave up his life plan, and inheritance we think it was a dumb choice. God had a plan though, and those of us we get chastened by the Lord or redirected because of wrong choices can start again and work to please God today. Let’s try and help others to get the right idea and be strong in the Lord giving grace to one another when we see them fail and encourage them to move forward accepting the things we cannot change and changing the things we can. In Jesus’ love and guidance.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust God and not try to figure out why he does things just follow His guidance and do it right… trust Him to know why, when and where and just follow His advice. Listen to God today.
Heavenly God we thank you for guiding us to drawn nearer to You today, help us to do what You direct us to do an not to veer off the path, In Jesus name, amen.
