Dailies – In His Word 2019
Day 11
It is
so difficult to keep a good attitude when the world is constantly being a jerky
people. There are so many lazy, grumpy, rude people out there and it is so easy
to want to just yell at them to grow up! To tell them to get moving, and be
sharp with them as Jesus did when He flipped the tables in the Temple
courtyard. But His Word tells us that we do not have to yell at them. We need
to be strong, but be calm in our resolve to allow God to take care of the
people who attack our good attitude or outlook each day and to allow the Holy
Spirit to keep our hearts and minds at peace.
Let your gentleness
be known to all men. The Lord is at
hand. Be
anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:5-7
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love. 1
Corinthians 16:13-14
In the New King
James, and I like the New Living Translation as well below. I like to compare versions to see the focus and understand what God wants us to do or see in it.
Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Either one the
word for Be brave or be strong in Greek comes up in what we would call “Be a
man,” or “Cowboy up!” So basically the
Word here is saying to be firm in our faith, know that we are trusting God then
to be brave, grow up and do the right things! Don’t just do the right thing but
do so in love as Christ would do.
We may
want to go all self righteous on people but we need to remember that we are
representing God in all we do and we need to allow His Spirit to reach their hearts
through us, even when we do not feel like it at times; we need to man up. Let’s
make that a plan today, to be the better man, ( or woman) and to speak peace
over, in, and on each conversation or situation that we come across that seems
out of order. Let’s keep the peace! In Jesus name!
Heavenly
Father, help us to not be affected by the ‘jerks’ of the world but to relax in
your love and share it with those around us. Help us to have peace, and to
exude the peace, love and joy that you have put in us that they too may come to
know you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
