He calls us out! In His Word 7-2-18
Jesus called us out! He
told us through the questions that Philip asked in John 14 vs 1-17 what we need
to do. The word is Believe! He said that
we just need to believe He is who He is. Look in the Word; when Philip claimed
they had no clue where Jesus was going or where the Father was and claimed they
were confused in this Jesus replied the following;
Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all
this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen
me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? 10 Don’t you
believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are
not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. 11 Just
believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe
because of the work you have seen me do. John 14:9-11
I love it when the Lord is so plain and clear! Like when He was 12
yrs old and was found I the Temple teaching the elders; “did you not know I
would be about my Father’s business?”
It’s as if He said “Duh—Hello!? What did you think?” Sometimes I
think the disciples, and then in-turn we today, forget that Jesus is actually
God. We forget that He has the power to create a world, stars, planets, air,
molecules and yet we ask and doubt that He will answer our prayer needs.
“I tell you
the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and
even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask
for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to
the Father. 14 Yes, ask me
for anything in my name, and I will do it!John 14:12-14
You better believe it! If you doubt then where is the faith? And what
is faith but believing in the unbelievable? Think about it this way; if you
forgot there was a floor under your bed in the morning, would it still be there?
If you choose not to believe there is a floor under your bed does it change the
fact that there is a floor? No of course not, so then if you choose not to
believe Christ is real or that He will answer your prayer does that mean that
He will not be real or answer your prayer just because you chose not to
believe? Think on that one for a few moments.
Jesus
replied, “All who
love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make
our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me
will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you
is from the Father who sent me. I am
telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when
the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he
will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace
of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So
don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember
what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you
really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is
greater than I am. I have told
you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will
believe. John 14:24-29
It is way more simple than we think; He made
it easy but we try to make it hard. So then Jesus says things like this: “I
will leave you with the Holy Spirit, your Comforter, He will help you
understand because you are choosing to be confused by all of your over thinking.
I said just believe but You chose to question your belief, I said love me and
you will receive help believing. Obey me and you will find peace.”
Let
that speak to your heart today. Jesus wants us to believe that He will do what
He promised. If you gave up your old self to put on the Newness of Christ and
walk in His promises then do it; but don’t go crying about how its not working
out how you thought it would. Either you believe its of God or you do not!
His
Word talks about having a double mind as well! Read the book of James 4:7-8
covers this clearly. So what can we do
to get over our double mindedness? We
get in the Word, and in prayer and we fill our mind with scriptures that will
remind us of His goodness and His promises and hope for our future.
It’s
a lot like when Jesus told the lame man to pick up his bed and walk. He didn’t
say for him to think about it and if he felt like it to do it… He just said do
it!
Today
let us challenge ourselves and be bold, be strong knowing He is with us! Let’s
step out of our ‘comfort zones’ and walk in faith in His Word.
Dear
Heavenly Father, show us the words in the Word and write it on our hearts that
we will believe without seeing it again! Help us to understand once and for all
that You have this! Whatever our ‘this’ is! In Jesus name, amen.
