Nothing… in His Word 1-19-15
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of
angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand
all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could
remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all
my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my
body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Do you think you are all
that? Do you think you have it all in control and life is going along just how
you planned it? Did you step on some hearts to get where you are but do not
care?
Through out our lives we try
to do what we think is right in our own eyes, right? If this is true and we do not try to follow
what we are taught because it does not fit in our plans then we are nothing.
God’s Word, our Bible,
teaches us again and again the reason we need love. Love is not just a fleshly
thing but a spiritual thing and He works through the love in our hearts towards
others.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of
God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.He
who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
God wants us to love even
the unlovely; that means the people who we do not think deserve our love are
the ones who we need to love through Him.
Sometimes people make us so
mad! They make dumb choices, they do stupid things and totally ruin their lives
only to achieve their own selfish desires and then claim to be good people. But God wants us to love them anyway.
The Word of God says there
is none good. So get that thought out of our heads and lets see what we should do?
Psalm 53:2-4
Loving them does not mean we
agree with their wrong choices but it means that we love them anyway. It does
not mean that we condone their practices of bad choices but it means that in
spite of their wrongs we will love them through Christ.
Even
before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and
without fault in his eyes. Ephesians 1:4
Pray for them; encourage
them in right choice making.
Little
children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous,
just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the
devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of
God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:7
God’s Word says that we
should love one another, but not with the kind of love we think of when we say
we love someone; not just the feel good love. God wants us to love one another
in a way that we will exemplify His Spirit within us.
That means that we feed the
poor and clothe the needy right?
True, but not only that; He
wants us to feed the rich and cloth the not so needy too! He wants us to feed
the people with His Word and clothe them in salvation and righteousness!
But
that isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard
about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old
sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and
deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and
attitudes. Put
on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Ephesians
4:20-24
Some people think
righteousness means “right-o’ us-ness” and that they have to agree with and do
everything that they are told to do by other people.
God’s version of
righteousness is walking daily with Him and doing what He says via the Holy
Spirit. When we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and become ‘Believers” it is counted
to us as Righteousness!
I
have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives
in me; and the life which
I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave Himself for me.
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then
Christ died in vain.”
Galatians
2:20-21
So if we are nothing without Christ, and yet we
all wish to be ‘something’ or someone important in our lives we must believe
that God gave us Jesus to help us to be righteous and through this gift of His
Love we are given righteousness in His eyes which is really what matters in the
first place. After all our purpose in life is to please God, to be pleasing in
His sight in turn He blesses us with joy unspeakable, and love immeasurable.
So how do we do this?
We read the Word to gain knowledge of what His
will is.
We pray to keep that connection flowing between
us.
We walk in His Love daily by truly thinking to
ourselves “what would Jesus do” in this situation. How would Jesus treat this
person. Remember the woman at the well, the blind man crying out for Him and
the woman who just wanted to touch the hem of His garment knowing she would be
healed; they all were looking for God to help them.
We need to
heed His direction in our lives, pay attention and follow His lead; in His
love.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us today to walk in
Your love and to love others, and see others through Your Holy Spirit in us.
Give us the knowledge and understanding to hear and see what the Holy Spirit is
telling us today, in Jesus name. Amen.

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about
Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew
first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us
how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish
by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person
has life.” Romans 1:16-18
