Have you been taught-in His Word? 1-12-15

Have you been taught in His Word?
Have you been reading your Bible daily with a program?
Have you grown as a follower of Christ?
Do you listen for His voice in His Word?
Do you hear His Voice in His Word?

Then why are there no fruits? Why is it that the church does not grow spiritually? Why do we still have homes falling apart and people loosing their jobs?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him; and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord who gives generously to all who call on Him. For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” Romans 10:13-16

Another version asks ‘how can they teach them unless they are taught’? We need to glean from the Word as we read, we need to be taught what the scriptures are all about.

Many of us have read through the Bible at this point in time; we have every possible means of accessibility from computer to paper to even phones reading the Word to us and there really is no excuse to not read it. But do we study it? Do we really know what we are reading or are we just ‘doing our daily reading plan’?
Sometimes I have to ask myself; “What is the point to reading daily if I am not getting anything out of it?”
If the only reason I am reading through the Bible is to gain the pride of knowing I have done so then why bother? The Word of God it is life food for our souls.
The Word of God is not just a challenge to achieve but a nutrient that is like no other and without it we will not only wander in the desert but we will also get lost in the world.
It has been said 7 days without prayer makes one weak, though they play it up with the word week it is truth; if we do not spend time praying and reading together we will become weak and fail to thrive as Christ’s followers and children of God.

If we do not study the Word, we will not be approved by God let alone man.
If we do not study the Word and pray we will not keep the nutrients.
It is funny, but this makes me think of all the people out there who are on diets at this time of year. They starve themselves or work out but they do not make a permanent change. They are in it to win it for the moment, then run off to eat like there’s no tomorrow when they quit the drive to loose or achieve their goal.

We can pray, pray, pray but if we do not dig into the Word of God our prayers will not have focus. Who will we be praying to if we do not read the Word and get to know our God, Heavenly Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, the Lord?
Unless we do both, Pray and Read the Word of God as often as we can, gleaning from the scriptures written for us to do so and ingesting the very meat of the words we read then we will not grow stronger in faith, hope and love.
Reading plans are like fad diets; they come and go with little or no effect.
They are a temporary fix to the problem at hand.
We need to change our habits to fit the life God has given us to live; study to show yourselves approved by God… first.
I have said it before and I will say it again if you want to loose weight first get right with God, then follow steps to live the life He has called you to live. The rest will follow.
How can I say this? Because if we are living a right life with Christ we will not over indulge in the wrong things, we will eat moderately, exercise moderately and enjoy good healthy living.

This is because if God is for us no thing can be against us, nothing.

The Word of God tells us this! I truly believe if we do not keep our hearts focused on doing what God has called us to do we will not prosper in anything we do, but when we do pray, read an follow His directions; ‘all these things shall be added unto’ us. But how would we know this if we had not read it, been taught by the Holy Spirit what it meant?
If all we do is read it through we will be like someone who just licks the icing off the cake and then goes off hungry.
Dig in and enjoy the substance of the Word today. Ask God to give you the knowledge and understanding that He longs to give you today through the Holy Spirit speaking the Word of God from His heart to yours.
Open your ears to hear, and your eyes to see what He is trying to say.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to listen for your still small voice in the Word we read daily, don’t let us just read for quantity but let us read for substance, and sustenance. Feed us in the Word today and every day, in Jesus name, amen.
