Getting
Real- In His Word 7/15/13
Sometimes
things just do not work out as planned. We try our best and yet
things still go haywire and trouble is in the midst of the camp. What
can you do? What can you say; to get out of the problems you find
yourself faced with each and every day?
Do you
whine and complain about it? Do you try to fix things your own way;
or do you seek the Lord and ask His directions in it?
But from
there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you
seek Him with all your heart and with all our soul. When you are in
distress and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when
you turn to the Lord your god and obey His voice. For the Lord your
God is a merciful God, He will not forsake you nor destroy you nor
forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.
Deuteronomy 4:28-30
Glory in
His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His forevermore! Remember His
marvelous works which He has done...
1
Chronicles 16:10-12 a
In God
is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge,
is in God. Trust Him at all times, you people pour out your heart
before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Psalm
62:7-9
God
calls for us to seek Him face to face. He has chosen us to be His and
it is our responsibility to spend the time we have focused on His
will in our lives; our time is not here just for us to play and
enjoy, but also to play and enjoy our lives while walking in
His will.
It is
not about us.
He did
not call all of us to suffer; some maybe but mostly we are called to
pour out our hearts before Him that He may comfort, direct and guide
us in the way we should go. He wants us to trust Him to take care of
us and our needs when we lay them on his in pile and receive the
blessings he gives us in return.
-Hearing
His guidance.
-Entering
His presence.
-Actively
relating to Him our daily plans.
-Really
being real with Him; after all He is God He knows if we are truthful
with Him.
-Trusting
Him with our everything. Life, job, family, hope.
When we
“accepted Christ” or “got saved” or “asked Jesus into our
heart we in reality gave Him our heart to connect us to His. When our
heart is connected it is much easier to know what the right thing to
do is. It is a lot easier to know when to pray for someone, and when
to just pat them on the back and know that they just need
encouragement. It is also a lot easier to make decisions that may
alter our lives.
Such as
whether or not to take a job, who we should be hanging out with, or
where we should be going to have fun with our friends. God wants to
be an intricate part of our lives daily. He is tired of being put on
a shelf or a coffee table until we have a need, or get ready for
church on Sunday. My God is an every day, every moment, everything
kind of God; He wants my all, and to be my all in all!
So how
can I do this? How can I make Him accessible to my daily needs, hopes
and dreams? What if I am not someone who is used to being open with
anyone let alone the all powerful God?
First of
all, and I know I say this time and time again but it seems I cannot
say it enough; get down on your knees and pray. Humble yourselves
before the Lord, and allow Him into your life.
Why on
your knees? It is an act of worship, humble and 'giving over' to God
the control. Think about it, what do people do before a king? They
bow down. What do they do in honor or respect to someone in most
nations around the world? They lower their heads at least in a nod to
the person.
Secondly
read the Bible as often as you can, get to know who God wants us to
be. He has written so many stories about men and women who are after
His own heart so we can know His heart and what it means to know Him
personally.
When we
have given over to God the controls of our life the road will
eventually go smoother, but if it doesn't go smooth fast enough we
will have someone to hang on to so that we don't fall off the cliffs
of life.
I asked
you in the beginning what you do when things don't go as planned;
have you figured out what to do now?
Seek Him
with your whole heart, follow after Jesus with your whole self and He
will direct your life path. Seek is an action word. Put God's word
into action in your life.
Use
those Godly verbs!
Dear
heavenly Father, thank you for giving us so many verbs! Help us to
walk in the Word and truth and use the verbs you have given us to
help us have a fruitful life with You. In Jesus' name, amen.
