His time, His place, His purpose~ In His Word 2-23-2026
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-7
Sometimes we just have to trust God to direct our paths and be happy with it.
Sometimes we just have to wait to do what we want.
Abraham had to wait to be the father of many nations.
Joseph had to wait to see his brother's fall down before him. (Genisis 37-50)
David had to wait to become a great king over Israel. (1Samuel 16-King 1 and more)
Esther had to wait to find out her purpose in becoming a queen.
If you keep quiet at a time like this , deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some othr place, but you and yur relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a tme as this?” Esther 4:14
When we walk according to His will, God's timing is always just on time!
Many other people in the Word of God had to wait, and yet we try to skip that over and try to claim those promises God gives us now!
God has shown us again and again how He is a patient God, and to how we are to learn to be more like Him each day as we pray, read and apply the Word to our lives and yet we are some of the most impaitent people.
We pray for healing, we want it now.
We pray for financial stability, we want it yesterday with no effort on our part. We try to do things on our own without His guidance thinking we are helping with the effort, but that usually just delays our answers. Do you know why?
Because we become double minded prayer people. We pray for one thing, then think maybe we didn’t really explaing God what we want, or what we really meant. Hello? He is God!He knows! Sometimes I think we get caught up in our selfish needs or desires and we rush through life forgetting that He has placed roses for us to stop and smell. Or we stress and complain over the fact that there is a long staircase going up about 100 steps or more to get to the roses, we go out of our way to follow signs to a ramp instead of putting trust in God to help us on the stairs. Instead of trusting that He will guide our steps so we take a walk down a path that leads to nothing but dead gardens and odd shaped paths. Once we turn ourslves aroud God will show us that not only can we walk down the stairs but He has placed a beautiful bench in the beautiful garden nxt to the bench for us to sit and admire His handiwork while we rest.
Then He will bring people to visit with and enjoy sharing a bit of God and a bit of life conversation with, not for our benefit but the benefit of the other people who also desired to find a nice bench to sit on. In helping them out we can find joy in conversations that we never would have had if we went the long windy path to the other end of the garden path.
Take a moment here to imagine the scene. You sit down and the person already there nods and smiles. You sit for a moment before being your talkative self and introduce yourself and smile back. They respond with “No Ainglsh, French.” You know some french!Excitement ensues as we discuss the fact we are both using the same program to learn, her English, me French, the conversation is litterally tourists talking about where our hubbys were wandering in the garden while we sat to take a break and take it all in. But the woman who had look nervous waiting there alone now came alive and was excited to explain to her hubby what we were talking about in our languages! He too became excited and when they left she had a spring in her step!
Then a family came to share the bench with me. We spoke english as they were from countries that were similar to ours. One from the UK, and the rest from the country we were visiting. We chatted up a while then they left after grabbing information to later subscribe and very well may be reading this devotional finding out how much joy they brought to my day in the garden!
Sometimes a walk in a garden is not about the flowers but the people you meet.
All of those I mentioned above were doing things different than they could have but each of them eventually realized God had a better plan.
Is there something in your life that you tried to avoid and because of that you almost missed a blessing?
If I had not gone down the stairs I would not have had these wonderful encounters with such wonderful people, God knew!
You never know the impact someone you meet will have on your day, or thiers for that matter! Next time I’m too tired to keep walking I will accept the nudge to sit and visit! It made the beautiful garden all that more special.
Spend time praying today and ask God to show you the lifes you can touch, or that maybe will have a good word or you. Be en open different situations as they arrise and be flexible to sit with strangers now and again. You never know what God will do!
Heavenly Father, thank you for the timely visits we had on our trip to a botanical garden this week. Thank you for placing us in the right place at the right times. Guide our steps, in Jesus' name.
