Advent Day 14- Joy to the World!
Joy to the World the Lord has come!
I am happy to celebrate joy today knowing that Christ is
risen and will return! The song mentioned above talks about the birth of Jesus
that we will celebrate in another week and I am excited to share joy all week
with you!
Let’s start with Luke!
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the
radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be
afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all
people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the
Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! Luke 2:9-11
Great joy that is brought to us as we are included in that ‘all
people’. I love that the Angels told them that the news would bring great joy
to all people, if just the news of it would bring the joy should we not share
the news as well?
If we read on in this chapter we will find that the shepherds
discussed it and decided to follow the directions to find Jesus. Once they
found it to be true they returned to their work but on the way they told as
many people as they could. I wonder how full of joy they were at knowing they
were told about this! Plus, they were so excited to share the story with
others!!
Let’s think for a moment; when was the last time you were so
excited that you shared the news, the Good News, about Jesus? This is the day to do it! Tell even one
person about His birth! Plant the seed of Joy in someone’s heart! If I had not
seen the ‘Little Drummer Boy’ as a child I may not have known to focus on Jesus
at Christmas and that He brought joy. Just watching that movie each year gave
me joy, I would tear up even as a child at how Mary would allow the boy to play
for Jesus. Sure, it’s a fiction story but it had Jesus in it, that part was
true and it made me feel such joy in the season He was born.
Look for a Jesus Birth book, or story to share with your
family this year, or if you are single to share with friends or coworkers it doesn’t
have to be a book, it could be a movie, or something. Click share on someone’s
picture of baby Jesus! That is a start!
If Jesus did so much to bring us joy, the least thing we can
do is share that Joy with the Word today!
Heavenly Father give us avenues to pass your Joy on to
others, that they may search for you and find you because of the story of Christ’s
Birth. In Jesus’ name
