Do You Believe In Love?
Do you know that God is love, and no one can love anyone else if we do not know God, because He is love, to know Him is to also love Him. Okay, read the verses below it explains it better than I do.
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 1 John 4:7-9
Do you believe it? Jesus is that Son that was sent into the World so that we might be saved and given this eternal life. God loves us so much that He gifted us with Himself: Love. Think about that for a moment then read on.
God gave us love so we could pass it on as a gift to others. Hmm, that means to me that its not always something we want to give but it is something that God wants us to give, and to receive from others. Think on that one for a moment! Selah?
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. I Corinthians 13:1-3
So the point is that we need to share love with one another, and the cool thing is that it is free! Love does not cost us anything really, unless we chose to spend money on someone to show that we really do love them. But its not needed, not necessary to share love. There really are so many ways to love one another. You can do a Concordance search on love and find all the different types technical terms but I mean things a bit more simplistic.
Show love by being kind, by giving an at of service such as window washing, taking out the garbage, fixing something broken for someone else, or saying the words. You could do any number of acts of kindness that will show love. The one thing you need to do is to love God, and loving people will come easier.
We are not God, so we cannot give up our sons or daughters to love others. What we can do is pass on the story of Jesus' birth.
Today our Pastor Read a bit from John 1, as well as this set of verses and others. He shared the fact that we are to focus on Jesus, His love, and the celebration in songs and hymns and spiritual songs. Lets make this week one of putting God's love story out there; tell the story of how Jesus came, and then grew up and gave up His life for us all!
Heavenly Father, thank you for your love. Help us to pass that gift of love on to others by not being selfish or prideful but by giving your love to one another, in Jesus' name
