A Mother's love 12-24-2025 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of
heaven—praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. Luke 2:13-20
Imagine, the love that they were seeing as Mary and Joseph were greeted by the shepherds as they ran to see the thing, the birth of Jesus, that they were told about. They said that the Lord had told them about. They knew who He was.
In several instances we see Mary's love. She mentions here that she kept these things in her heart. Then as He grows she finds other things, and then again the wedding supper that Jesus turned water to wine, she kept those in her heart too.
God is amazing. She knew God gave her the mothering of baby Jesus, for His purpose. Her mothers heart loved this baby so much. My heart broke for her the first time I read of His crucifixion after reading the verses about her keeping things in her heart. She loved him not only as her Lord, but first as her son.
Greater love has no mother than to lay down her sons life for all of us I am sure!
If you are hurting because you are missing a loved one who has gone home without you, then think of how Mary felt knowing she would loose hers for such a great cause.
Heavenly Father thank you for Mary bringing Jesus to life and giving us the perfect example of a mother's love as well as the Father's love. Help us to love one another as You have told us to.
In Jesus name
