What’s the point? In His Word 2-4-2025

This life we live in today is full of questions.

Who, what, where, when, why? I want you to know that the answer is found in Jesus! Well it is truth, but  you have to look for it, or seek Him to find it!

They saw Him, met Jesus, face to face and so they shared it with us. Why?

So that our joy may be full!

We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.  This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.  We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.  We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.1 John 1:1-4

They shared the Bible for us with a purpose. The purpose was to teach us His ways. To show us the way to God,  through faith, hope and love which we find in the Bible. It may seem odd that we can find answers in the written word that was really first penned a couple thousand years in the making. Letters, journals really, have been compiled and passed down from generation to generation just so that each of us would pick up a book and read it and find answers we sought.

It can really blow your mind when you stop to think about it. I mean each of us who have read the Bible, found Jesus, or got curious about who God is, was, and will be on His mind and He placed the Word in our lives that we would know Him.

Some people find Jesus in a church service and get the realization that they need a personal relationship with Him, some people watch a video or movie and it touches their heart and draws them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Still others are called to read first, then realize that yes they did believe this book, the Bible.

However you find Jesus and decide, or accept that He is God as His Son revealed to us to help us to believe and be obedient to His Word, God set you up to be able to understand it with the help of His Holy Spirit.

Its not just so that you would stop and bow down but that we could all fellowship with one another and with God. From the beginning He wanted to walk and talk with us, and yet mankind decided to do things its own way so many times.

I have to tell you I get so frustrated with the people He calls ‘His People’ so many times in the Bible, and yet they ignore Him, they think they know more about what they should do, and they listen to one another more than to Him. They even have fought with God to the extent of a limp!  And still He loves us so much that He sends us His Son, then guides us all through history to the point in our personal lives that we reach and take the hand He has been offering.

Its frustrating because they knew Him,  man actually heard the voice of the Creator of all things, and yet they chose to listen to man over God due to fear, or stubbornness.

Do we think we are different? We hope so! We can only learn from their mistakes if we read the Bible. Read the foolish choices they made and see the trouble it got them into. Then we can see that listening to God, following His directions, commands and guidance is the only way to find that ‘joy’ that John tells us about here.

Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before.  Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining. 1 John 2:7-8

We need to continue to read, to pray, to listen to the Spirit as He directs us through these days we live in, maybe even more so than they did back then! With media it is so easy to get caught up in the cares of this world and not focus on the important things that God is giving us to see and do, Let’s make it a plan to not listen to the junk of the world but to look in the Word and find God’s purpose in our lives and then walk in it!  Ignore the bad news for a while and focus on the Good News!

I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray.  But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. 1 John 2 26-27

Trust God, follow His Word.

Really a great spot to start today is to read the rest of these chapters in 1 John. Read the full book but start here today and find the joy that we are to realize and find out how to get it full up in our hearts and minds and then go share it with others!

So, what’s the point? Get to it!  Love God. Love people. Do the Word!

In His love,

Teresa
