What is Love?  In His Word 2-10-2025

“Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”              Genesis 22:2

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.1 John 4 7-9

God is love, and in being so He has been able to show us how to love. Abraham took Issac and knowing God would not take away the promise of a son, He obediently followed God’s instructions.

God provided the sacrifice, and he did not have to sacrifice his son Issac, of course, but Abraham had to trust God’s love to obey and trust God.

Love is God, God is love, and it is His way to love us by showing us what is good and right.

Love can be happy,

Love can be sad,

Love is a feeling that some’ve never had

When you’re in love you feel happy! (they say)

When I fall in love I hope I’ll feel that way!  Portion of a Poem by Teresa Anderson 15 yrs.

But God’s love is different, it knows no constraints,

It’s not pushy, controlling or full of complaints.

God’s love is written in 66 books!

He shares His creation and hope for tomorrow

He presents His love as it gives Him great sorrow.

Sometimes we don’t listen to hear His great Words

Or  forget how to read or to hear what we’ve heard

If you really must know then the scriptures below.

will tell  you His Love is …. Well, the Word  below shows….

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.   1 Chronicles 16:34

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud  or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.1 Corinthians 13:4-7

*His love endures, is faithful, and true, compassionate, kind, patient and full of hope!

His love will last forever.

Today as you think about the many types of love celebrated this week, think about the word, and the Word, as you do. God is love, and all His attributes can be found in the Bible. To know this love you have to know God. To know God you need to read the Bible, often, daily, whatever it takes for you to get to know Him and learn how He planned for you to live.

This post is a bit different, a bit creative  I hope.

His command is to love Him, and love people. Read it to see! So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35

1 John all of the chapters are short but if you really want to know what the message we heard from the start then go to 1John 3

This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.1 John 3:11

If you read the chapter fully you will find lots of ideas for how to enjoy a week of love without being all mushy, just plane loving others!

Love God and love people!

In Jesus’ name,

Teresa Wilson
