Joy In His Word
There are at
least 58 verses with the joy of the Lord in the New Living translation. It is
not in those connected words, but it refers to that. What is the Joy of the
Lord? It is more than just happiness; it is joy unspeakable and full of glory.
So, what does that mean? Why is it better than just plain being happy in the
Lord?
The Joy of
the Lord is the kind of thing that helps us through sorrow, through healing,
through suffering when there is no way that it makes since for us to rejoice in
the Lord, but we do!
Then
Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were
interpreting for the people said to them, “Don’t mourn or weep on such a day as
this! For today is a sacred day before the Lord your God.” For the people had
all been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law. And Nehemiah
continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks and
share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day
before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your
strength!” And the Levites, too, quieted the people, telling them, “Hush! Don’t
weep! For this is a sacred day.” Nehemiah 8:9-1
Only via the
Lord can we walk in this kind of quiet, strength, and hope. The first is when
we are forgiven, that is the first joy we feel, or know. It is the most amazing
thing to realize that God has forgiven us when we do not deserve to be
forgiven. Jesus died for us even when we do not deserve His love.
“Oh, what
joy for those whose disobedience is
forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of
sin.” Romans 4:7-8
He cleans
our blemished life, even if its small but painful or huge and horrible its all
something God forgives us from.
How can you
get that joy back after you have been saved for a while and life gets rough, or
worse?
We repent,
we ask God to help us, and we follow His steps to the joy we had when we first received
the new life in Christ. The joy we received when we first believed in the Lord
Jesus Christ is the joy of the Lord. It is so amazing that we want to tell
everyone, so they too can learn how to receive it! This is how the Gospel was
spread back in the day, by word of mouth and testimonies and by living the life
God put before them. In Jesus name!
Therefore,
my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see
you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work. Now
I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle
your disagreement. And I ask you, my true partner] to help these two women, for
they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along
with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book
of Life. Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let
everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is
coming soon. Philippians 4:1-4
Remember and
remind others of the message you heard from the start, to love one another, and
be loved by God, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for your salvation and
theirs too! Give them the Words to pray and give them hope to live and the Lord
will give them the joy! In His love
