Where do  you go? In His Word 7-15-2024

When life gets you down where do you go?

Psalm 42.

As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God.

When can I go and stand before him?

Day and night I have only tears for food,  while my enemies continually taunt me, saying,  “Where is this God of yours?”

My heart is breaking  as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers,     leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks   amid the sound of a great celebration!

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?  I will put my hope in God!  I will praise him again— my Savior and  my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you—even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan,  from the land of Mount Mizar. I hear the tumult of the raging seas  as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me,    and through each night I sing his songs,   praying to God who gives me life.

“O God my rock,” I cry,  “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I wander around in grief,     oppressed by my enemies?” Their taunts break my bones.   They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?”  Why am I discouraged?   Why is my heart so sad?  I will put my hope in God!  I will praise him again—my Savior and my God! Psalm 42:1-13

The full on psalm is a great way to remind myself when I get down, I hope it helps you as well to remember that we are not alone in our sadness, grief, frustration or even in the depths of despair and feeling all alone!

God is with you and me. He has shown us again and again in His Word that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He gave us a part of Himself when He went back to heaven; His Spirit remains our comforter today.

I know many of my friends have recently lost loved ones, I cannot say why they had to feel the sorrow they feel, but I know God feels it with them because He cares. The empathy of God is an amazing thing to realize. Once you grasp the concept you will be amazed, possibly overwhelmed by His presence you may even cry. This time it will be happy tears as you cry when you know that you are loved by Him. The Creator of all things loves you!

You also may have to walk in the sorrow a bit longer to really get the fact that Your God is someone you can put your faith in, and trust to bring you through to the other side. Then you will know how to praise Him, then you will as the psalmist said, ‘put your trust in God’.

So today, thank the Savior Jesus, thank the Father God, thank the Comforter, Holy Spirit.

Praise Him. Thank Him. Give Him glory for the steps you took today, whether mental emotional or physical to lift your soul via the Holy Spirit presence of God in your life.

He has not forgotten you, or left you behind, He is waiting for you to reach out to Him and trust Him, in Jesus’ name.

So, where do I go when life gets to me?

I go to a God who gets me!

I go to the Rock of my Salvation. I find Him every time I seek Him, and I find Him in His Word.
