An Encouraging Word--In His Word 7-22-2024
Jesus was full of encouraging words. The Bible is full of encouraging words but some days we just don’t feel it. It may be that we were caught up in the cares of this world, or have grown weary doing good, but God has a plan to overcome our own feelings of discouragement. Be like Jesus.
Is
there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from His love?
Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and
compassionate?
Then make me truly happy by agreeing
wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with
one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble,
thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own
interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You
must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:1-5
In order to have the mind of Christ, or
behave like Him, or have the same attitude as some versions write we must put
on our armor by getting in the Word, by
getting the Word in us! We must read more of our Bible verses, more chapters,
more books of the Bible. It is the best way to find peace, encouragement, joy,
and hope for tomorrow in the midst of today.
Start with 1 Thessalonians 5, it gives us
the encouragement that God chose us for good reasons! So we can remember that when bad things
happen in life, and they will, we can be strong in His power and might. We can
be full of the Spirit speaking to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs!
We can be encouraging to one another by
sharing scriptures that speak to our hearts and minds when we are in the same
sort of problems they are walking through, and sometimes even before we have
had to walk in it! When we are full of the Word, we will be full of the Spirit
as well!
For God chose to save us through our Lord
Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. Christ died for us so that,
whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So,
encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.1
Thessalonians 5:9-11
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you
do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following
the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a
pleasing aroma to God. Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed
among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse
jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or
greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy
person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Don’t be fooled by
those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who
disobey him. Don’t participate in the things these people do. For once you were full of darkness, but now
you have light from the Lord. So, live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what
is good and right and true. Ephesians 5:1-11
To remind yourself how to live, you read the Word. To remind yourself how to be joyful
you read the Word. To remind yourself how much God loves you, and that my
friend will bring you joy if nothing else does, you read the Word.
Some more scriptures to read and be
encouraged check out this list below;
Ephesians 5 the rest of the chapter I quoted
above.
Mark 4: focus on 18-20 but read it all.
Galatians 4:focus 1-10 but read it all!
Whenever you start your day with a verse, go
look at the rest of the chapter and see what its all about, that’s a good way
to get started reading more. If you don’t have any literal time to spend
reading ,put your Bible App on and play the ‘read for me’ verse only click’ read full chapter!’
In today’s technological world there is no
reason not to get more of the Word of God
in our hearts and minds! Thank
God for that!
Okay, I have one more challenge for
you! Take the time to come up with three
encouraging words, and find them in a Bible verse or quote one you remember.
Write it in your phone so that you can click it and read it every time you
start to feel discouraged.
Tears will come, hard times, loss, sorrow, but when we put more of the Word of
God and His Spirit in lived daily consistently we will be able to
stand strong with our Armor!
Galatians 6 has this listed. The armor is
there to protect us, to guide us and to give us feet to walk sharing the Gospel
message. If that does not encourage you
I give up!
Be blessed today, be encouraged in all that
you do that you are doing it as unto the Lord. Accept that even if you walk
through the shadow of death you will not have to fear evil because God, the BIG
GUY, the Creator of all things, is with you, right now! In Jesus’ name!
