31 Days of Prayer In His Word 1-14-2024
One of the popular Bible stories with Peter and John
going to pray one day is about them healing a man who called out asking for
money. We assume he was sitting on the ground as beggars usually were near the
Temple, when Peter and John said the famous words, “Silver and God have none, but
such as we have we will give you… In the name of Jesus Christ rise up and walk!”
They knew the power of Jesus’ name. When we pray now we need to know the same,
the power of Jesus’ name.
So, they called the apostles back in and commanded them
never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied,
“Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? We cannot stop telling
about everything we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:18-20
It is amazing that they were told not to speak the name
of Jesus, and exciting that they knew the Lord God would keep them doing His
will.
