Tell the truth! In His Word 2-13-2023

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that God is in control. He has given us the Word of God, our Bibles to give us direction and instruction for right living and to be able to trust Him to show us where to go and what to do each day if needed.

I do not mean that its like a crystal ball or horoscope, but even better, it is the inspired Word of God. The truth is written from page one to the end!

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Timothy 3:16

So, we know this right?  Yet we do not always accept that correction when we are wrong. We sometimes may even pretend we did not know that we were not supposed to ‘eat that cookie’ on the counter. When that happens, we are walking in sin, to know to do the right thing and not doing it is sin.  (James 4:17)

And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.  It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations,[a] beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’  You are witnesses of all these things .Matthew 24:46-48

You yourselves are our witnesses—and so is God—that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers. And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.  We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory. Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:10-13

Every day as we walk in His presence, and we do that if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and are ‘saved’ from our sins, we are able to share the story of Jesus with those around us. We each have our own story of course of how we leaned who He was and believed in Jesus as our Lord, but none of that would be a thing for us to know as clearly as truth if it were not for the Bible God gave each of us.

Years ago, I began teaching kids about the importance of reading the Bible. I would give them my New Testament, even the one I used to read and find out how much I believed in Jesus. I told them if they read it cover to cover and had proof via parents or guardians that they had actually done this, that I would give them a whole Bible.  That was something I was not sure at first how it would go, but then I had parent notes showing up and I had to put my money where my mouth was. I believe that those kids are now adults who teach the Word to their kids as well.

Now I cannot know for sure, but at least one of the kids shared with friends at school and gave away my personal Bibles. At first I was upset, but then I realized if Jesus could sacrifice His life for me, I could sure sacrifice a family heirloom Bible.

The whole point of this story, incase I have lost you in the visual is that we ourselves are to be witnesses of what God has done in our lives, and by doing this we are helping others to allow Him to direct them in their lives and share with others, who can share with others, etc.

So basically, if you believe the Word of God is truly inspired, “God breathed” then go tell someone about it! Tell the truth, In His Word.

The best way is to get to know it, read through it, but not just to read it. Read it to see what God did in the lives of the people written about. Study to show yourself approved by God, but why?

So that you may be ready and equipped to share the Word of God whenever the opportunity comes up.

Remind everyone about these things, and command them in God’s presence to stop fighting over words. Such arguments are useless, and they can ruin those who hear them. Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.  Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.2 Timothy 2:14-16

Which brings us back to the purpose of His Word being given to us.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

God gives us the Word, to equip us to do the will of God, to share the Word of God with others.

Just a few thoughts to ponder today, in His Word.
