Are you still counting? It’s Day 29 of Countdown to 2023!
We are gaining daylight, even if it
does not seem like it, we have lived thorugh the shortest daylight of the year
already and are now gaining daylight each day. If you have less darkness, then
you have more light!
Something to think about isn’t it?
We who are called Christians, or Believers in Christ, we are walking bits of
light. I say this because we have Christ in us via the Holy Spirit. His Spirit
brings light to our lives just as Christ is the Light of the World. This isn’t a new thing because God has always
been the light but we as Christians are the light as well. Again, not so new.
God wants to remind us of the things
that are constant, or of God, and one of those things is seen in the verses
below; love one another.
During this inbetween week we can
sometimes feel frustration at people who did not give us what we wanted from
Christmas, or maybe we are frustrated because someone else is the selfish one,
but we need to remember as Christians that that is not the focus that we should
have. Actually, we should not be thining about ourselves at all but of how we
can love others and encourage them and maybe even inspire them to believe in
the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. That is the purpose we have in life after
all. Love one another and honor God. The more we focus on the good the less
there will be time to focus on the darkness around us because the more God and
His Word that we put in the more light will flow out.
Those who say they live in God
should live their lives as Jesus did. Dear friends, I am not writing a new
commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very
beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you
heard before. Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment,
and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true
light is already shining.1 John 2:6-8
So we should live our lives
according to His guidance and example
. Jesus replied, “My light will
shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the
darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where
they are going. Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you
will become children of the light.” John 12:34-36
Be a child of God, bring the light
to the darkness and shine through it! Brighten someone’s life today with the
love of God.
In His Love,
Teresa Wilson
