Waiting on the Lord- His Timing is not My Timing
Sometimes we are in prayer for a moment, and the answer comes. Sometimes we have to do what some call ‘travailing in prayer’. This is when you pray for along time. Whatever time you put into your prayer when you are praying according to the will of God: His timing is perfect.
This morning I woke up early; while still in bed I began to pray for the writing and the readers of this book. As they often do my prayers rabbit trailed around and I began praying for my children, my husband, myself, our day, etc. I began to drift back to sleep and startled myself awake. Looking at the clock I realized I had only spent ten minutes in prayer; and yet had covered a multitude of needs. How is this so? I believe God has a time of His own. I mean that when we spend earnest time in prayer it does not have to be a whole hour, though when we can do so it is a wonderful thing: some times the short precise prayer is enough! Remember the scripture we read about effective prayer of a righteous man? If a short prayer gives you the faith to go on then the time is right. Just because Julie Jones prays for an hour a day does not mean you have to.
Prayer is not to be a perfect little box of “our Father in heaven…” but to take as little or as much time as needed to get peace over a situation or to know that God heard. When He gives you the go sign, you are good to go.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
For everything there is a season,
A time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to build up.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching,
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
Pray for His perfect timing in your prayer life today.
Good Morning Lord,
